The Medicine Wheel

For My Daughter Ashley LouAnn Seigel

The Lakota (Sioux) people

consider the medicine wheel

a sacred symbol with

much meaning.

The Circular shape represents

the continuous cycle of

and death.

The horizontal and vertical lines

represent the sun and man's

sacred paths.  The center of the

Earth (indicated where the

lines intersect) is where one

stands when praying.

The four colors:  red, black,

white and yellow are sacred to

the Lakota people.
